Monte Poole is still digging up the so called jacket flap. He's pointing to Kiffin not wearing a Raider Logo jacket while coaching at the Senior Bowl. Only problem is he said it was the "Super Bowl". Wish that it were.

As I pointed out then, and appearently must still do, Kiffin was wearing an Under Armor Logo jacket. It just so happens Under Armour was the MAJOR sponsor of the event. And, it was a Silver and Black Under Armour jacket.

The problem with predicting the draft is usually after pick two everything is out the window. I never predict, I just put out my preferences for filling in holes.

I still see a need on the DL. That could be covered by SOH or Sedrick Ellis. There are some injury questions on Glenn Dorsey at the moment.

After that we could still use a LT. Harris might do it under Cable, but at the least depth is still needed. Also center if Newberry doesn't come back. Grove got decent marks, not great, just decent, when he subbed for Newberry last season. So, maybe he is coming around.

As for the current silence, I think that's part of the plan. They are quietly looking for solid depth and potential trading partners.

Gary- I'll do one better. I also predict DL, but I'll bet Al trades up to get his man. We've already mortgaged our future. Why stop now? 2008 = ALL IN, shoot the moon; and the Big Tuna and Miami are a real possibility for trade.

One clue that the fish might trade their #1 pick will be if they don't negotiate a contract. Tuna is smarter than to make a #1 pick without a contract in place... ala Al Davis and JaMarcus Russell in 2007.

I said I have nailed the POSITION every year... it's almost impossible to nail the player when you are drafting late because ya don't know who is already taken.

I too would like to see Rout and Washington stick around. But regarding cap space, I expect to see at least one of them on the trading block. Rout is probably the better suited nickle. Fact is, with Huff and Wilson as our safeties, we probably don't need a dime back.

Burgess was interviewed on Sirius NFL Radio.

He said he’s training on his own (which we all know he does every year), and not with the team during OTAs.

Asked his opinion on all the big contracts being given to others on the team (and not to him), he said it’s just business and he understands that. Said he was happy for Kelly and others.

He had good things to say about Hall, and he thinks the additions of Hall and Wilson will only improve the D.

He admitted there was a division between the O and D last year. He seemed to imply that some players responded well to Kiffin, while some did not.

Asked about the “dysfunction” of the Raiders, and he more or less said “that’s just the way the Raiders are....” Although, he could not speak about the current status of Kiffin or the team (because he’s not with them).

Interestingly, prior to the interview, they were talking about Schweigert being on Sirius previously and complaining about his "new" role with the Raiders, and even wanting out. Tim Ryan suggested “so what” and “he should shut up.” Seems Schweigert is turning into a crybaby, and should probably be used as trade bait. I almost hate to see either Washington or Routt be traded.

They made a point to discuss some of Hall’s numbers and place him easily among the top 10 CBs in the league, and among the top three CBs against the run (knows how to play at the LOS).

And yet you could pretty much go right down the line... he picks players almost every year because of poor play at that position the year before, or because the player at that position is at the end of his game (or wants out as in Woodson).

The first round "needs" picks are often disguised as such. AD seems seduced by so many other things that if the pick fills a need then great. Is need his primary consideration? I am not sure.

I will be happy to defend my needs pick list when I have more time. I am on "the 'cation' (vacation) as my daughter says.

My wife indulges my Raider madness as we go to several games a year (looks like New Orleans and KC this year if anyone is interested in meeting)
but I don't want her to know how much time I actually spend around RT so I'm off ;-)
